Katlin Callahan keeps secrets. Not just the ones involving the most dangerous men on earth she hunts as the Ladies of Black Swan team leader, but those she keeps from Alex Wolf. She’s loved him for years…as a friend and short-time lover, before life happened. Reunited after three years of silence, and celibacy for Katlin, her teammates convince her to use Alex to get back into dating. But can she use the man who makes her body zing, without losing her heart?
Alex Wolf didn’t think anything could surprise him after serving as a Marine Corps SpecOps Company Commander, but finding his former lover, Katlin Callahan, in his corporate apartment, naked, pointing a gun at him, was a shock. In more ways than one. Seeing her again, brought back memories of their college days, when they were lovers, and she was his. Now both single, again, he's determined to win her back.
Griffin wouldn’t stop until he saw she was as good as she claimed. Sometimes men could be so overprotective. The man had no idea what she did for a living. She could more than handle herself. She turned away from Alex and headed to the door.
“Kat.” At Alex’s use of her pet name, she stopped and glanced over her shoulder at him. His appreciative smile told her he’d been checking out her ass. He quickly frowned. “Are you going to answer the door naked?”
Damn. He’s right.
She deliberately turned and strode back to him. She tugged his shirttails from his pants.
Bam. Bam. Bam.
“Although I really like the direction this is headed,” Alex noted, a smile teasing his lips, “in a minute Griffin is going to break down that door.”
She slid the shirt over his head then, in one continuous motion, over hers. As she slipped her arms into the sleeves, which even rolled up fell to her wrists, she vaguely realized it was inside out and left Alex bare-chested.
“Better?” she said, glancing over her shoulder as she moved to the apartment door.
“No, I liked you better naked.”
Of course he did.
“Hello, Kat.” Those two words, soft and seductive, hit her like a jet blast, searing and overpowering.
She wanted to run to him and have him hold her like he should have done when they buried Ty.
She wanted to smack the shit out him because he hadn’t been there when she needed him most.
She wanted to cry in his arms and have him comfort her.
She wanted to cut him to the core with her words and actions, making him hurt as much as he’d hurt her.
In the wave of reactions, Katlin realized that she had overwhelming emotions for the first time in three years. She felt…something…everything…as sensation poured into the void that had been left cold and empty far too long. Since the day they had stood in Arlington Cemetery and said goodbye to the man who had been best friend to both of them. The man she had loved, and trusted, longer than he had deserved.
She should have known Alejandro’s mere presence would do that to her. Standing casually before her was the only man who could infuriate her to violence one second and stir her passion to the edge of orgasm in the next.
Stunned by internal war, she stood there.
